On Tuesday, the Blackpool Zoo in England confessed that reports of an escaped monkey the previous day weren’t completely true. UPI reports that the zoo had simply run a drill for an escaped animal, and the missing “animal” was actually a stuffed monkey toy. The zoo took to Facebook to explain the situation, saying that they regularly run animal escape drills to prepare for emergencies in the same way schools run fire drills. “We’re delighted to report that the escapee was returned to its ‘enclosure’ swiftly and safely,” the zoo said in a Facebook post. “We can also confirm that no staff, visitors or animals were harmed in the process (although the soft toy is a little grubby now).”
