Weird News Wednesday: Journey Tape Causes Bomb Scare

“Only the Young” don’t know what a cassette tape is, so it must’ve been one of them who thought a Journey cassette mailed to an office building in Charlotte, North Carolina, was actually some kind of bomb. CBS 17 reports that around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, concerned mail-room employees called the authorities about the suspicious package, which was “handwritten and addressed from out of state.” The building was evacuated and a bomb squad and K-9 unit arrived at the scene to “Faithfully” inspect the parcel. “The package was a small manila envelope–it was a cassette tape,” an officer said at the scene. “It was actually a Journey cassette tape.” While it’s unknown which Journey album it was, The Charlotte Observer reports that one fan speculated it was the group’s 1996 album Trial by Fire because it “should come with a warning.” In closing, “Don’t Stop Believin'” in the power of arena rock!
