Dolly Parton is Getting Her Own Netflix Series

Dolly Parton is getting her own Netflix series. IndieWire reported Monday that the country legend’s upcoming, anthology-style show will use a different Parton song as the basis for each episode.

Parton will not only serve as an executive producer, but will also sing, write songs and act on the program. The news was confirmed after Parton’s former 9 to 5 co-star Lily Tomlin let the cat out of the bag at a Q&A this weekend. When asked if Parton might guest star on Grace and Frankie, Tomlin’s Netflix comedy with her other 9 to 5 co-star, Jane Fonda, Tomlin replied, “We’d like to see Dolly and we keep hoping we’ll work out a schedule, but she’s just so busy. She does so many things, and now she has a big show deal herself at Netflix, so I don’t know.” Tomlin added, “They’re going to do a series about Dolly’s songs, like she did with Coat of Many Colors and all that stuff.”
